Traveling Maine- Down The Back River Road

I am heading to a Farmer's Market this lovely spring morning. Why not jump in my car and join me? Not to my destination, but just for the ride, it is a slice of Maine, country-side...

Wind Tousled

Winding around the back river road,
Car window down and radio tuned
On country sounds-
As the wind and I swish past,
Dandelions bend trying to holdfast to the meadow.

Cruising

A spring breeze rustles through the trees.
Listen to that wind, a familiar old friend,
Strumming a sweet chord through the leaves;
The sunshine just dancing!

Tempo and light swirls through the tall grass.

Along the Way

Over hills and dirt roads,
By remodeled farm houses
With white porches and leaning barns;
And there, always in the front yard,
Stands an old oak tree,
A rustic symbol and timeless guard.

Timeless Promise

Open fields and stormy clouds,
The sweet pungent wheat smell
That is the promise of rain.
Life remains the same here;
Down the back roads of Maine...

In Closing

Oh my dearest Delicia, I felt like I was 'actually' traveling on that journey with you, sitting in the car beside you, I too could 'smell' the wheat and' feel' the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere.
Winding down the river road
listening to the wind a familiar old friend strumming a sweet chord through the leaves, the sunshine dancing.
The images are so beautiful.
I'm 10 years old again and in the car with my parents driving through the Scottish Countryside on a summer's day. Your beautiful poetry somehow connects to my childhood memories, which is just wonderful.
Thank you so much for this priceless share
