True Fear

Sometimes, real life can be way more scary than any work of fiction.

Scary Things

Nights give a new name to the uncertain
Pale shadows surround us
in the last hours of the day.
Do we look forward to the night
or are we afraid of it?
A little void comes near us,
making us remember
those things we want to forget.
Is that why we fear the shadows?
Our generation is getting used
to be always surrounded by
bright screens that are always blinking,
technological games
to keep our minds happy and numb.
Even little children have learned
to put their fears on a corner,
growing faster than their parents did.
Now, the little ones laugh
when they read stories about
creepy crawling creatures.
Is this really good?
Having all the info we want
at one click of distance.
has left us with no ability to be amazed.
Maybe the only thing left
to really scare our hearts
is the cold really that surround us.
