Two personal poems. The first is an ode to fishing. The second is an ode to poetry. Both quick writes. Thanks hope you enjoy.

My Ode to Fishing

Why do I put on a crank?
Why do I throw out a worm?
Why do I bear the weather of potential concern?

It is not for the kill
It is not for the fight
It is to see in the day, what I can only see when I am fast asleep at night

It is for the freedom of knowing what I may never understand
As I hold a live fish with my bare hands

Thank you I say
Thank you for the fight
Thank you for testing my patience might

You are stronger than me
Both wild and free

But for both of our ways to stay
I must always leave

Ode to Poetry

The layers of the poem
Conform to put me in the zone

A place where I can be free
No need for necessities

Just a pencil and paper
And a space to write

Where thoughts can come and go
Without a fight

Where troubles they pass
As time does to

Where memories last
On paper like glue

This is where you'll find me at midnight
Not at a bar picking a fight

But working through my own battles internally
Only to conquer my demons burningly

Thank you for what you have done
Because I know only more battles are soon to come
