Uncertain Fear

Even if we try to forget about it, fear is always with us, and this poem talks about it.

A light flashes in the window,
highlighting the place above your head.
Suddenly, your heart beats faster
and your sweat gets colder.
Others, might just laugh at
those strange things.
while you really feel
as if you were
about to pass out.
What's the difference
between you and the others?
Have you ever wondered
where are our fears
really born?
We do learn to fear some things,
while other fears naturally run
in our blood.
Mother Nature gave us
fear as powerful tool
to avoid getting into
situations that might
put our life at risk.
When we become adults,
we try to forget those fears,
and we learn to live
among those shadows
that used us to creep us out.
But in the back of our minds,
we will always have
a little bit of fear
for all of those things
we don't really know.
That fear of the uncertainty
is always with us, whether
we like it or not.
