Unemployed

This is a poem about being unemployed and what it feels like to be unemployed.

Unemployed

Unemployed
Sell, sell, sell
Yourself.
Over and over and over
Tried and true
Let down!

Trying, trying, trying
Still unemployed;
Hoping and wishing that a
job would be offered.
Answer
NO! No! No. Again.

More selling, selling, selling of
yourself over and over.
Pray, pray, pray

Under-qualified
Over-qualified
Finally qualified

Experience wanted or not necessary
Let me know and show me how
Hire Me!
Now or later!
Give me a chance.
Suddenly one day it happens;

HIRED!
Starting to work
more worries
Will I fit in or will I be
nobody.

Getting paid and then
able to pay what is owed.
Feeling safe and secure
where we are.

I can feel how painful it is to be unemployed. Happy that the person in the poem ultimately got hired.
