Until Resurection Day

A friend of Jesus visits him on his dying day. This friend dries his tears.
Distant Drums
Distant drums call to me
to pay attention to your heart
so patient and wanting to
be loved.
But my local drums pound
out of the ancient ones
beckoning me into
manhood.
Yonder river is but a trip
for us, a single bow to tie
you and me together so we
can dance to our own beat
once more and make our own
drums and chant our own
dreams forever.
If I stood before you on that
resurrection day with your
arms outstretched
to catch me sins;
Could I at least dry your tears
and keep you company until the
Almighty God takes you home?
