Memories of our childhood is all that we have. We can never go back and find what was.

Unyielding Sands of Time

I went back to my home, that I left long ago,
And I sat on the shore by the lake.
I remembered the things that I did growing up,
And the fuss that my parents would make.

But now it’s all gone, it isn’t the same,
Now that I’ve grown to my prime.
It’s all been erased, from the face of the earth,
By the unyielding sands of time.

The old oak tree that I used to climb,
The rock where I used to fish,
They’re just some old memories from long, long ago,
They’ll never return with a wish.

The old oak tree is gone, cut down to a stump,
The rock is all covered with slime.
It’s all been erased, from the face of the earth,
By the unyielding sands of time.

As time seems to rush faster now, we fight to keep up - the spirit may be willing but the body refuses to cooperate! We are also not the same every few years and some mental blows leave deeper scars than the physical. Time and tide wait for no man. We can relive our lives thorugh memories only. I am with you, Don - siva

Sad but true - they remain best in the mind's eye.

Reminded me of sandcastles we build and then destroy. Thanks, Don.

With wings of words building sandcastles on the clouds high in the sky. Thank you dear Don. I want to be in your friendship chariot. Please hold me, too.

The past remains forever exactly what it is... the past. It can be recalled, honored, regretted or treasured - But never altered... (Winston Smith's job in Orwell's "1984" notwithstanding ...)
