Violence Against Women

There is no sane human being who thinks it is alright to violate an individual, causing them to suffer physically and mentally just for cheap thrills

What Has Gone Wrong?

Social media recently broke the news of women being stripped in public. The perpetrators of the heinous transgressions would want us to believe it is the fault of women. That is their mistake to be subjected to such debasing treatment. After all ,so the argument goes, they are dressing inappropriately and they deserve it.As a society we make a few noises but at the back of our minds state that they ought to have known better, then we accept it and move on.
Soon enough though, the trend of degrading women has caught on like an outbreak of a contagious disease, and now hardly a day passes by without the report of attempted or successful stripping of women in public.

It Is Very Cowardly

When a group of men attacks a woman, strip her naked with people watching, others opting to either join in or stand aside and take pictures and videos. It shows how low we have sunk as a society. We can't claim to be civilised when we have failed our women and children.Reports of children who have been sexually defiled, the rape of women of different age-groups and violence against women is becoming a norm and no feathers are rubbled about these. It is quite cowardly and uncivilised when a man defines his manhood by oppressing the vulnerable in society.
The stripping of women is not only a tasteless and a shameful practice,it is even an inhumane and a cowardly act.It begs the question:Who died and made these idlers the gate keepers of morality or cultural practices,or the dress code enforcement squad? Under whose mandate and by whose authority do they act on when they take it upon themselves to punish women in the streets after judging them and finding them wanting in their primitive court?

Crime Has Many Faces

Even to a simple minded individual, these,as i call them, are acts of assault and therefore crime at its best, and those who take part in such are criminals.Acts of violence agaist women are criminal and failure to recognise and address them as such will help maintain the status quo abuse and humiliation of women and girls in our society as men envelope themselves in the cocoon of impunity. There is no reason to hide beyond idiotic excuses that the individuals who assault anyone are psychologically disturbed,or that they were not raised right,or that they ascribe to a strict code of cultural conduct.
There is nothing in our cultures that calls for the degradation of women, and I dare anyone out there to adduce evidence in support of such if they claim otherwise.

Someone Take Action

For all men,it is time we stood up for the women in our society and show our fellow men that violating women doesn't make you a man.For the women,it's not time to sit by and silently tremble in your stilletoes as you watch this happen.Stand up and call for immediate end to these acts of crime against humanity. We all have the power to put a stop to this, and put a stop to it now! To borrow from Alan Paton, the author of Cry Beloved Country:
"Cry,the beloved country, for the unborn girl child that is the inheritor of our fear.Let her not love the earth too deeply, let her not laugh too gladly when the water runs through her fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire.Let her not be too moved when the birds of her land are singing, nor give too much of her heart to a mountain or a valley. For the fear will rob her of all if she gives too much"

A recent small survey on an American college campus indicated that almost one out of three men would force a woman to have sex if they thought no one would know and they could get away with it. The percentage dropped drastically when the question phrased it as "rape." It seems to indicate that most men don't think of sexually attacking a woman as rape. The survey raised enough interesting questions that it's going to be enlarged so that the findings can be confirmed and studied.

This is a news to us and if assumed that a few girls would have had sex with men which is not at all possible in our colleges and 99.9% girls are not touched by any person in this regard.

Very sad indeed,I just hope that something will be done and everyone who is found doing this to be dealt with by the law.

Crimes against women is on the increase but no one can dare to strip a woman in public in our country, whoever they, single or group, they will be burnt alive. Our society does not tolerate such crimes against women.
