Virtual Slaves

Technology indeed gave us ease on a lot of things. Our works are easier because of the machines and computers that have been perfected over the years. But what has technology done to us as a person?

The Way We Were

We used to spend most of our waking hours either with friends and families. There was a much warmer way of communicating. It makes us feel a lot better whenever we feel bad and there is just a hand over our shoulder. A simple touch may mean a thousand words to us.

Immobile Socialization

But since the Internet Age took place, everyone has become distant. It is like saying “Near yet so far”. Internet was supposed to bring us together ---being able to communicate with people from faraway places any time of the day. But what has it done to us? We all ended up being slaves in front of our computers. There would be an exemption among those who work online, but I am referring to those people who spend their hours on chatting and playing games online. I think there is also a part of it that the parents should be put to blame. They would just let their kids be in front of the computer instead of going out with friends and does not have any idea in what they do or where they go. So the computer is "awarded" to these children instead.

Virtually With Friends

The inactivity of these kids has contributed to the increase of obese children. They would be munching while playing all day. Gone were the days were children would go out and play with friends and enjoy biking around the village or just be in places like zoos and other educational centers where they can discover a lot of things. Internet surely has made it easier for them to access these and just be “virtually” checking out these places.

Parents teach kids to be slaves of technology. They use technology as the babysitter and as such kids grow up adoring it.

Oh yes, I am sometimes guilty of having to put up with the kind of discipline just so I can be able to get my work done. But really, parent should not let their children's life be trapped this way. Our childhood is a lot better than it is now.

I completely agree with Mark's comment. It's not strange anymore to see kindergarten student familiar with gadget now

I see children addicted to gadgets and mobile phones getting younger by the day. This trend has also affected the relationships between children and parents, especially mothers. Adults are just spoiled children in the way they pursue their lifestyle - siva
