We Don't Inherit the Planet; Watch what We Bite!

It is clear the unseen hand of the Creator is guiding us but we cannot take Him for granted. We are accountable for our actions while He has to help others too to survive. We should not live like we have inherited the planet as other species too have to be nourished and protected. We decide our fate and karma in the end!

On Tenterhooks!

We gaze in wonder when we are born. We are received joyously but that does not guarantee much. It is how we adapt to the surroundings that decide our ride here. We get prompts from deep within but we tend to ignore them as we are easily misled. Do we find time to reflect too or we just complete the marathon with weary legs at the end of the race? Some cannot wait for the race to be over despite apprehensions as to what is to follow. A dead end is also dreaded; the beauty and also curse of the living!

Our Limitations

We are given senses but other species have them too, often in better measure, both defensive and offensive. We try to reason it out; agree, disagree and even just don’t care. Why bother when we cannot decipher with our limited faculties? We can have beliefs to give us solace to face the uphill ride and accept defeats as necessary part of life. But lots are beyond us; we may never know in our present state. When we discard our physical covering, things could become crystal clear!

We can get carried away. Lots that glitter are sadly not gold. Even some of our own shine only to flatter and come down with a thud! Ultimately we are in a lonely journey even when surrounded by loved ones. We come alone and leave alone; that is the eternal truth: From where to where remains hidden for now. The Creator might have own reasons! We are not up there yet!

We go around in circles, but we know what we don’t know trumps what we know. Great scientists also become aware - when they find some solutions, more challenges are thrown their way! We need inspiration from everywhere, from deep within to the far reaches of the universe and even beyond. Life will remain a wondrous yet mysterious journey of hope and despair. And we part mostly reluctantly, mourned but soon forgotten. Others have to move on with their lives!

We are Accountable!

The Creator monitors our progress – do not know whether He considers us at the apex of Creation like we take for granted! Will He give up on us as a wasted opportunity, a bunch of ungrateful species not worth a second look or chance? That we behave as if we are destined to survive forever, unlike other species, could prove a bit too much for Him to stomach! Thus far and no more could well be the end result.

But there are no signs yet that the Creator is pulling the curtains down on us yet. But whether we do hara-kiri is entirely another matter. He does not normally interfere in a death duel among His creations! Survival of the fittest could well be His motto.

We are given a lot of leeway. We can ride roughshod over other species and even annihilate them. It is our karma anyway and decides where we end up, finally! We have to climb higher with fewer wherewithals when we sink too low due to our foolish acts. That means we have to be ever watchful and accountable for our deeds! Our roads are paved with gold sometimes, but are we grateful or just spurn the chances with hardly a second look?

Never Forsake our Duties

There is only so much even the mighty Creator can do for us - like parents admonish their children. Finally, it is up to us, our call where we end up! Take responsibility is the clarion call ringing true and loud. Bite what we can chew and leave time at our disposal to make the ride smoother, chipping in with our own bit. It is our duty also to leave nourishment for other species; not corner everything beyond needs. Everyone counts in the bargain. Live and let live!

The Creator has given us sparks of creativity and passion deep within to rise above mediocrity. Do what is right, adapt, reinvent and live with passion, come His call from within us. Just take a deep breath, listen and act! We welcome the new every moment; make it a better place for them, lend our shoulders to the wheel within our limited time. The burden is still carried by Him; we are just bit players in the end! Bite what we can chew but play our part wholeheartedly with the Creator lending the unseen but vital hand. What more do we want!

Thanks indeed Carolina for your lovely comments. I believe, our fellow travellers are around us for a purpose. They will remind us later of these encounters, both the good and the bad. Don't they have souls if we have them? - siva

I have been told Siva that animals have a group soul...but I love their awareness which often is greater than humans....dogs especially seem to know and recognize loving and caring..

Animals and birds seem to have better instincts to realize what we are up to! They have better survival instincts than us and leave us alone too - that we cannot claim credit for! Thanks Carolina for your revisit and thoughts - siva

Siva once again you've hit the nail on the head, thereby earning the coveted Star! Congrats for a brilliant piece of writing once again. Yes we are all part of the whole in the scheme of things and so should play our rightful part. Life should be lived in the HERE and NOW to make it enjoyable for ourselves and for others. There is no point moaning about the past or fretting about the future!

Thanks Subra for adding your thoughts. We can live so much better than just worrying over afterlife! That is just the beginning of another innings! Every end is also a beginning! And we can look forward to good tidings when we have good thoughts and deeds in our CV, or resume, to carry forward! Yes, we have to earn it, sigh! One should not include "fighting others' Gods"! There is only so much even our Creator can do. He has held our hands more than enough. Leave Him alone by proving we have learned the lessons. Thanks again for your visit and comments, dear Subra - siva

Nice one once again dear Siva sir! Live and let others live peacefully must be the policy of one's life! Biting less and working more sincerely has not killed any one so far! I think instead of acting as a naughty child of the Almighty we should behave like a understanding child to help him out in balancing his lovely mother nature! Thanks !

Thanks dear Rao for a positive take on life. We all know what to do but we lack discipline to meet our goals, sadly. And making paper money out of thin air as an end by itself could lead to our ruin as even communist China and Russia are at it, not forgetting socialist India! Love, share and care will be our saviors in the end when we have finished with our romp! siva

Another good article! We are all part and particle of each other tettered by a Divine Mind. When the string is broken we'll know how much we've over eaten.

Indeed, no one can avoid his responsibilities, and only blaming and naming others will do no good as well too. Rightly focused and quite nicely shared. Thank you again Siva ji.

Dear Madan, perhaps our spiritual brothers who are always watching over us will do just that...they have already taken care of many recent events that would have been far worse if the perpetrators had not had their plans contained...

Thanks Madan for your visit and comments. Global disarmament is the only viable way for our future. We either see the reality now or learn after paying a very heavy price. It is ultimately our choice whether we want to live in peace for a better future or least one that we received from our forefathers - siva

As having ‘superiority’ in intelligence (as we are boastful because of the ability to destroy) it is the duty of mankind to mange the earth properly. But, now the worst enemy of the living world is Homo sapiens. He has to answer the reckless exploitation and destruction of nature. Good, thought provoking article. Thanks.

Thank you, siva: Your pages are inspirational for me to learn more. I am reading that the human species has an unconscious tendency for destruction and we are finding more sophisticated ways to do this.
I cannot even begin to understand, but it seems to be true. Apparently we are the only living beings who act against nature . This is horrific, siva. When we understand this, do you think there might be hope for us?

Very perceptive comments, Ivy. We are conscious of our wrong doing, yet allow a minority to lead us to destruction.

Are we not making weapons of mass destruction, ever more potent, and then bemoaning them falling into "wrong hands"? siva
