We struggle to find inspiration, to catch brilliance in the palm of our hand and hold.

Those times when our thoughts are so overflowing that we have to strain to focus in on the words, and the moments between when we feel uninspired, drained, searching for the spark of genius beneath our doubts. When we need to quench the dry spell, and then something wonderful emerges.

Dust Storm

Storming, the wind
that tore and whipped
burnt kisses against
my pressing thoughts,
gave no reprieve.

With parched voice,
that yearned for a quenching
drink, it whistled hoarsely
at my solitude.
Where oasis' were strained mirages.

The gritty taste
of desert
invading a mind
whose crevices proved to be
sands' resting shore.

Brilliance evaporated,
in the onslaught of cloying heat,
My veil to protect
is cheesecloth.
Tattered remnants, failed relief.

Our striving drops of rain
search to find shade in towering fronds.
Dark will bring a poignant gleam
the genius behind a solitary dream.

My real passion is writing poetry, but I also have begun to dabble in writing a children's story and a fictional novel. I also like finding fun facts about animals, I enjoy researching similar areas.

Simply beautiful:
"the onslaught of cloying heat"
Best words in its best order!
