What We Yearn For?

We manage to complete the race of life despite the strife and challenges. In a way that makes it all worth the while. However, we have to move another notch to make our lives more meaningful and wholesome. Looking inward in contemplation for wisdom than just reacting to sounds and sights will do the trick.

Our Goals

Can we ever be contented? Obviously, we should not be to the extent we just stretch our legs and laze around. Now there is a sea of discontentment whatever the political system in force. Many do accept the realities of life but feel they deserve better. If so, what are the underlying causes that stall us from achieving our goals? What are our goals anyway? Who sets them? Or, as like Steve Jobs said – people do not know what they want! Only when they see them they will know their desires like his Apple products that never fail to fascinate us – what a profound legacy he has left behind!

Human Nature

For material items we can make a decision after seeing them. The real problem is when we don’t visualize more important issues that can lead us to our doom! We tend to accept a lot as a reality of life and over those we have little choice. Take wars and armaments for that matter. Do we need them? Who decides wars and on what basis? Now, almost the whole world is viewing North Korea as a renegade country including China, but does the latter do enough? Or they back them as a necessary evil to balance the region in their favor – to put a permanent enemy in the backyard of South Korea and Japan? It is simple logic that China is not doing enough as they are the only friend of North Korea - the latter is almost a vassal state of their big neighbor. Likewise, others too indulge in bad karma, but each considers the rest as are more at fault – a human trait leading to our downfall!

Overcoming Issues

Almost all want peace of mind that can only emanate from all round peace; that is possible only when we accept the diversity. When some feel their culture and beliefs are superior and try to impose theirs on others, we are sowing the seeds of strife and war. Let us never forget – do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Nobody wants to be forced into a corner and that starts from preteens now! When we accept others for what they are, they do the same. We should see others of every hue as just human – without age and gender differences too. What bliss when they reciprocate the same way! And in my opinion our biggest enemy is ego and many do not realize they are captives of this human trait! This human weakness of our leaders cross borders and bode ill for the innocent common citizens. Most wars are initiated by the hubris and ego of few and ironically they manage to broker peace in the end for self-sustenance! The real loss is for the families of poor souls who perish and kill others mainly for self-protection.

Many forums discuss the ever present issues of ill will that can turn into another World War. How it will pan out is anybody’s guess. It can turn out a damp squib or kill millions like they did during the previous two. And never forget the use of nuclear weapons used to end it all, literally! Many are instigated and poisoned by issues that have no relevance to day-to-day lives of the vast majority. In the present day when blood members of families are citizens of different countries or at least live across different parts of the world, what significance is there which country owns a piece of land? Let them belong to all as we have embraced a planet without borders. An astronaut exclaimed in awe from high above – our planet is a beauty without compare – that the rest of us might realize only when we reach up there eventually to see no borders anywhere; a late realization indeed!

Basics of Life

The bottom line is we yearn for:

Peace: Peace is possible only through universal brotherhood on give and take basis; it is either swim or we sink as one. There will be no victors when we try to prove who is right through wars. At the most, we get a reprieve till another tyrant takes the place of the previous one. We can see that happening wherever regime change has been forced on the people. So let the sleeping dogs lie till they pass on when nature takes its course or their own fix them!

Coexistence: We want to coexist except the few who would like to lord over others. There are neighbors living amicably but few are unable to only due to politicians dividing the people mostly through religious and cultural beliefs. They indulge in incendiary speeches to divide and rule – a tiny minority taking advantage of the vast majority.

Sustainability: It is becoming a part of our life; otherwise, we are digging our own graves and indulging in karma that can doom us and our progeny! Now we are becoming aware of the right way to live.

Democracy and Freedom: We want them to prove meaningful especially to the poorest – the benefits should percolate to them than be cornered by the privileged few like it happens especially in poor countries. The banks should help them than only be frightened of the ones with the might. What terrible karma if the system favors the rich like it does now!

It is Elementary

The poor has the heart and live with the spirit of sacrifice – without them there cannot be the rich! They are not asking for much; just plain justice and fair play that are being trampled upon at will by the powerful. The whole system seems to outmaneuver them. It has become lopsided and the leaders elected in democracy are lost in the labyrinth of inflexible systems in force. That means the whole world feels lost, starts blaming each other but the issues lie closer to home. The harmonious blend of inter-dependence and self-sufficiency will do the trick to work towards world peace. Otherwise, we will be untying self-created knots forever. We need to unclog our minds and see the issues globally as each individual and country faces the same issues – fighting to find meaning in our lives and bequeath a better world! Yes, our yearnings are simple and solutions are within our hearts! However, common sense is not that common; our bane! Time for soul searching – looking inward deep to find wisdom than be taken in by the outward sights and sounds!

Siva, I remember years ago when the leaders of both North and South Korea were crying in front of the T.V. cameras as they embraced one another.

The wall had come down and families from both the north and the south for the first time in years were visiting one another.

But the United States government said "No! there could be no peace between the two" and drove a military wedge between them both, blaming North Korea for the action which all knew the United States had fostered.

Another false flag!

"North Korea a threat to peace?"

No! The United States and Israel are the threat to peace world wide!

You have been duped by the insurmountable lies told for so long by the elite's media machine, as so many others have and the ones at the root of the malicious lies are laughing their heads off at those who continually believe their political distortions.

Siva, you bring up many good points in this article, but you need to take a course in high politics.

In that arena the setting of a good example to others, or persuasion to do good, simply does not work. This world is governed by ruthless implementation of a secret policy, where do-gooders are viewed as fools and the good considered to be gullible.

This policy is ceaselessly implemented and used for killing the best from among national leaders. It conspires against the finest programs designed to make this world a better place. And here the reality of ruthless despotism by the few pits nations against each other to keep them busy in wars, killing humans by the millions, just so they can stay safe behind the mayhem they create.

Unless we begin to deal with the root of all world problems: religion, high politics, money, a global conspiracy by an identifiable handful of people, and egocentric selfish leaders among democracies, we will never elevate ourselves as a society to the next level of evolvement where an economic order can emerge we all can be happy under.

North Korea is not the problem. The conspiracy is the problem under which all western democracies operate: all the way from London, to Washington, to Tel Aviv, including many western capitols in between which are found in collaboration with the "big guys" at the top of humanity's dung heap.

Thanks Reni for your comments and you come firing on all guns from another angle. But I believe the silent majority will triumph in the end; otherwise democracy and freedom are meaningless. The root of the problem is the arms race and the armaments being produced and placed across the whole world - willing buyer and a more than eager seller despite all the platitudes! What use lamenting later they have found their way into the "wrong" hands. The "right" becomes "wrong" anytime. It is so easy to fight for peace than war mongering. Ego plays a big part too - Russia now minds its own business mostly, but China is willing to spar with the US now!

Though I do not know much about the conspiracy theory, I believe most leaders mean well. But they lose their way all the same when elected to power. In a way reality is different within the inner power circle than viewing from the outside. The common citizen's yearnings are simple to meet. They form the majority anywhere and the rich needs them more to become richer! siva

Dear Siva ,I have to throw the gauntlet down among my learned friends here , first in ignorance to the darker goings on behind the scenes , and secondly as a Christian who knows that in this world we will not have peace , until the Prince of Peace takes His rightful place . I can feel the stirrings of opposition , but I am grateful to be among such friends who would not stone me for my meanderings in thought . Ulthrania has a point in saying Israel may be a threat to peace world wide , but only , may I humbly add , because Her Messiah is the God we Christian's love and serve , and not all agree with our stand for our Saviour . North Korea is just another Pawn in the great mix of world dominance , brought about by opposing beliefs, greed , disunity and hatred of its fellow man . We must be careful we are not part of such a mix ...for , what we sow , we surely will reap .
God bless you my friends Siva, Uthrania and Reni.
Happy Easter to you all .

Thank you Stella. I believe we can make this world a much better place than what it is now. For that, we need more empathy and give and take. It can never be perfect as it is meant not to be. We are unpredictable and nature too is mostly. Being spark of creation from the one source, I always try my best to add my little bit to all round wellness of creation. We all have different beliefs but can easily coexist. Majority everywhere wants to be left alone. And our awareness of goings on will help us unite to survive on the basis of justice and fair play. My point is - North Korea will not dare unless it feels their big neighbor will close its eye. It is horrible justice when real blood brothers and sisters are divided forever just because of the few. And whoever is behind this will have to pay the price with compound interest for their willful acts - siva

Dear Siva, great and noble thoughts once again from an erudite gentleman like you! Congrats on another star which you richly deserve for the moral compass you show to guide your fellow-men.

All said and done Siva, let me say with all humility and respect for your views on world peace etc, that things are easier and easily said than done! I agree with your thoughts but who is to bell the cat?

Among other things you mention that the majority have to come down hard on those few who enrich themselves by exploiting the poor. These few can be business leaders, political leaders, bureaucrats etc but how do you enforce the rule of law on them? They are the ones who make the law and abuse it to benefit
themselves. Look at India, for example. Because it is a bastion of democracy and
freedom, how is the majority going to put its foot down? Theoretically it is easy but in practice is it that simple? The majority of people in India decry the rampant corruption, mismanagement and poor governance of the country but all they can do is to shout slogans, have mass rallies, go
on strike etc. Are they really able to unseat the powers that be? They can shout their heads off until the cows come home, but what more can they do?

Another point - in practical terms, interdependence and self-sufficiency cannot be harmonious because of the evil forces at work.

All the best Siva

Thanks dear Subra for your appreciation. I am now struggling to keep my feet on level ground!

There is a plaintive cry from everywhere that the greed of the few has killed the goose that laid the golden eggs of democracy and freedom. Even western developed countries, with liberal democracies in vogue for centuries, are now losing it when it comes to fair play and justice. The rich is getting richer at the cost of the poor. Now they realize plain voting and leaving it to their elected leaders will not do anymore.

I feel the scenario will change with mass media enabling the majority to expose the vile of leaders and make them accountable to deliver on their promises. The workings of democracy is increasingly under the scanner and things are changing for the better. I only wish the younger generation will step in to right the wrongs as the future belongs to them. They should bell the cat and I am optimistic - the darkest time is just before dawn! siva

Egoism, selfishness, greed, power, fear, insecurity and self-interest are the driving force behind all the mess that is happening in the world today. This subject is thought-provoking and good for the sake of argument, but how things will change or whether they will change at all is something no one can visualise.
