When Spring Has Sprung.. A tongue in cheek rant...

Now us Brits can be a funny lot, but when Spring has sprung and birds are all a-tweeting..we like nothing more than going for a ramble..unless it's minus 5 outside..! A tongue in cheek rant by Songbird B..

If Spring Has Sprung..

They're telling me that Spring has sprung,
when kids outdoors can have some fun..
And golden Daffodils now glow,
in clustered drifts all in a row.
Yet if I dare to step outside,
I wonder if I would survive..
For temperatures are not so nice,
and I'd return, a block of ice!

Can Someone Please Tell Me..

Now honest, I am not a wimp,
and loving Spring, I will not stint..
..on singing praises to this season,
believe me I am not a heathen..
But turning such a shade of blue,
because my bits are frozen too,
is hardly going to make me ramble,
or watch and smile as Spring lambs gambol..

Why It Is Still..

Just get a little warmer please,
dear Spingtime, and I may not freeze,
when enjoying longer, lighter days,
and Cherry trees with blossom haze,
Cos Winter may have lost its hold..
yet left behind its biting cold!
So Sun, please give a little heat,
so I can start to feel my feet!

So Flaming Cold Outside???

I'd really love to go for walks,
enjoy what Spring time season brought..
but 'til it gets a little hot..
perhaps indoors, I'm forced to stop..
And huddle under duvets tight,
to escape Springs bitter Arctic bite..
And alas, I could end up a hermit..
but at least I won't be hypothermic!

(To correct that line could cause a Hernia,
coz there ain't much rhymes with Hypothermia!)

I loved your poem and your pics Bev. The daffodils and lamb reminded me of my home in South Wales. I can see that your work must have taken a good bit of planning and research Bev....a well deserved star for your efforts my friend :-)

We still have snow here, it just won't quit, it almost all melts, then we get more. Its not been cold, just too much snow, too long of a winter.
Great poem, let it warm us all up.

Bless you for moderating my page so fast dear Mark, and for adding a shiny Star merit too! The snow here has all gone, though we had so much in March that many farmers lost valuable livestock..Absolutely heartbreaking. Now we have just these chilly temperatures that seem reluctant to lift..Glad you enjoyed my tongue in cheek rant over nature though my friend..Bless you so much for leaving a comment Mark..\0/x

Love it Bev! Spring is sprung, the grass is rizz, Can't cut the flippin' stuff, coz our mower's in a tizz (it thinks it's still winter ... and it may be right!). As if we do don't have enough with which to contend (ie the Wimps in Westminster), we've got the fickle UK weather too. Grrrrr...

Looking and feeling from faraway, Songbird. Your humorous poem and images transport your weather across continents! Weather plays truant but here in Asia - it is hotter than usual. And the usual will also be too much anywhere else, and add to it the stifling humidity, but we are used to it! siva

Bless you Sivar, I always enjoy reading your comments my friend! I guess that us Brits moan about the weather whatever it does, so we are hard to please at times! lol Just wish it would warm up a little so my frozen bits could defrost..! \0/x

Just loved this Spring poem, such fun to read. Autumn here in NZ, rain is falling - yeah, the drought has broken - they say we can water the garden again, but why bother, the rain keeps on doing that for us.

Lol, that reminds me of last Summer Val..The day after it was officially announced that we were under a drought situation and a hosepipe ban was brought in here in the UK, it started to rain, and didn't really stop! All through Summer, and Autumn, and even Winter..We had so much rain that everywhere was flooded! Guess it solved the drought situation..though still not sure if we can use a hosepipe or not..LOL.. Glad you enjoyed the poem, just a bit of tongue in cheek humour to brighten up the day..\0/x
