Learn more about me and why I like to write. In this self-narrated autobiography I will detail my experience as well as my hobbies. Being an online writer has its challenges and I hope I can share some of those insights with those looking to start a writing career on the internet. Writing can be fun it just takes knowing yourself and your capabilities to succeed.

How I Got Started Online

Everyone has a story that they can share about how they got started on the internet, and I have one as well. First I want to say that my arrival to the world wide web is typical to most people who want to share their interests, knowledge and talents to a mass audience of readers.

As a former elementary school teacher I enjoy learning, teaching and engaging with others in a classroom setting so when I found social writing platforms it was a perfect fit for me. Communicating through the written word is a lost art. Many have allowed new technology to shorten the process, we no longer need to write to express our thoughts and feelings, instead we can record a video or audio.

I won't begin to talk about Text Messaging which is a whole topic onto itself, but you can see how media has really dumbed down the younger generations learning capabilities. I have seen first hand what television along with music has done to the minds of our youth. I am no way against media but I think it has replaced the educational system to the point that teachers have a hard time reaching the kids who show up to the classroom.

Unless teachers learn how to embrace visual learning tools children will fall way behind other countries whose students will be the ones running our corporations over here in America. I don't want to make this post a debate but needless to say that is why I love writing so much is because of the way it can be used as a learning tool.

Readers are leaders as you have probably been told growing up and I do believe this is true more than ever. Online writing platforms allow us to become the channel for providing content and information to the masses who are seeking to learn by reading again.

I was an avid reader growing up and still am to this day, unfortunately books are now being replaced with computers, tablets and smartphones. The attention span of our youth is very short, if we do not entertain them they become bored quickly. So my mission has been to inspire would-be business owners and entrepreneurs to look for new ways of doing old things. This is the best way to make change when it comes to re-educating individuals for success.

How I Got the Name Sunshine

You are probably wondering what is the deal with my name. Well it does have a back story and it originated from my grandmother, when I was a little girl she would always call me sunshine, so it just stuck and I always use it when introducing myself to people.

My birth name is different but not as much fun, at least with my nickname I get interesting questions and smiles from people. My grandmother was a very special lady who often thought outside of the box. She had 12 grandchildren and kept us pretty amused with her creative art projects that we participated in at her house.

I will never forget the time that she had a art contest where each of us were supposed to think of something we liked the most and then draw a picture of it. I have always loved gardening and flowers so of course my picture was of a big flower.

I still have that picture because after granny passed away I wanted to have some of her keepsakes and I was happy to see she still had my art piece as a kid. I often ponder on what my life would have been like if I had not had such a wonderful granny to call me sunshine.

My Experience Writing Online

Since I first started on the internet I have had the opportunity to write for several sites. Most of them have been revenue sharing writing sites because I like the ease of use. It is a great way to improve one's writing ability with little to know investment and it is a great starting ground for learning interesting topics too.

I think the first site I ever wrote for had some really great contributing authors who were knowledgeable in a variety of specialties and fields. So I learned some new things along the way. The biggest thing I learned is how to format a page by having an introduction to the main body and then including a conclusion.

This is not always mandatory to do but it helps with the flow of the content so the reader knows what to expect and it helps the writer to stay focused on the main points. One area that I have tried is freelance writing for clients, this type of work in my opinion is not as much fun because you are required to write on topics that you may not personally like very much.

So now I just stick with paid to blog assignments where I am given free range to choose the topics I want to write about. Which to me is why I think revenue sharing writing sites are the best of both worlds. The pay can be much lower when you are using crowdsourcing versus freelance gigs but I guess it depends on what you like to write about. Certain topics can pay well while others don't earn very much.

The community aspect of most writing sites is another area that I like because it allows you to interact with other writers and get feedback pretty quickly on the subjects that you post online. I have made some really great virtual friends online due to being a member of popular web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, MyLot, Infobarrel, Triond, Hubpages, Helium, Examiner, Bukisa and many more.

Unfortunately many writing sites are at the mercy of Google updates, algorithms and changes to search results which can adversely affect us writers. This is what happened to me just a short 3 years ago where I was earning a really good residual income off of articles I had written when the Google panda decided to downgrade popular web 2.0 writing sites causing loss of traffic and earnings.

Although this happened it did not change my love of writing, I still like to express myself through the written word because it is an activity I enjoy the most. I hope that content farms stay around for many more years to come because they do offer a place for people like me to help educate web surfers with information they can use.

Writing For Wikinut and Other Interesting Thoughts

Since writing for Wikinut I can say I am really enjoying the experience. I think the site has one of the best writing modules for articles. I have tried several and many of them are really buggy or hard to navigate, this is not the case with Wikinut. It is easy to write an article, make changes, add images, edit entries and preview the page before publishing it.

This is really an under-rated writing site, I hardly read much about it on the internet, due to the much publicized other web 2.0 crowd-sourcing platforms. I definitely would recommend this site for anyone interested in sharing valuable content on the web. I am glad I found Wikinut and look forward to publishing more articles.

I like how the page has a magazine style to it, which is great for authors who are looking to become published for mainstream media websites. You can use the articles on Wikinut as a reference for your writing sample portfolio when looking for other paid writing jobs.

It has been nice introducing myself to you and I hope to read some of your content here on Wikinut as well. See you around the web.
