Why Do I Have a Writer's Block?

A writer's block is very common among writers and it is usually when the person can not write anything no matter how hard they try but why do people get a writer’s block.

Why Do I Have a Writer's Block?

If you have ever wrote over a period of time (whether it was writing a book, writing for a newspaper or writing online) then you may of came across a time when you could not write anything or you just could not think of anything to write of or maybe you have a writer’s block right now as you are reading this very article. I am a believer in “prevention is the best protection” so to protect yourself from writer’s block you just need to prevent it.

One reason you may have a writer’s block is that different people prefer to write at different times of the day, some people prefer to write in the morning and some in the evening. All you have to do is find out when you write the most productively (if you do not know already) and write at that time. For example I prefer to write in the mornings as I tend to write most productively at that time so that is when I write.

Another reason why you could have a writer’s block is because of depression. This is because people who suffer from depression tend to have a lack of effort to do everyday things. To combat depression there are a number of things that you can do, such as draw or exercise. Personally when I suffer from depression I grab some scrap paper and just start doodling (if any are any good then I publish them online). However everyone is different so what works for someone may not work for someone else.

Having too much stress can cause a writer’s block as your brain is thinking to much about whatever is stressing you out, this means you would be to anxious or worried to write. The only real way to stop stressing out is to deal with it directly by sorting out the problem(s) that are giving you the stress.

Sometimes you can get a writer’s block just because there is not enough motivation to write. To get some motivation try and figure out why you write and then remind yourself to try and spark the motivation for writing again. Personally I write articles online mainly for the money and I also write articles online to help people out on certain subjects that I know a lot of information on.

Lastly you could get a writer’s block from not getting enough nutrients from your food aka “brain food”. Such things like omega 3 which can be found naturally in oily fish. It is also important that you have enough of all the nutrients your body needs so you can function normally.

It is more because they don't think what they can write about. The eyes are the greatest teacher, use it and create god articles.

BTW, interesting profile piccy, isn't that the Symbol of BDSM - Bondage Dominance Sadism, masochism or the submission to pain with code colours of Red, Yellow, Green and Brown, Blue etc. It is punishable by law if detected so think about changing that image lest it sends a wrong signal to the world.... Saw it on LoverME and Lovely Honey's Profile and went searching for what it meant and found out above....

I think you have pointed out some good reasons why someone can have writers block. As you have clearly stated, each person is different, so it can be a multitude of reasons. Thank you for sharing.:)

Nice tips, thank you Angus. I get inspired by thinking of my friends and their generous comments and encouragement. What I believe is not a good enough topic or effort is well received at times. At the end of the day, a positive outlook carries the day - siva

Anisha Achankunju-Lady Aiyanna ~ Thanks for your comment, but that is the very first time I have heard about the bdsm symbol being punishable of the law I think I will look into that. I am not worried about what others think or portray me as, I am my own person. Thanks for the concern and for bringing this to my attention.

Denise O ~ Thank you for the feedback, it is very appreciated!

Sivaramakrishnan A ~ Thank you for the comment and I have to agree with you, I wish more people would be more positive about everything (not just the really good things).
