It helps in getting edge over the competitors but it may not be as easily visible as it seems.
Teachers
Many teachers focus on the writing skills of students. It makes many wonder why the focus is so much on the writing. I think the answer is:
“You will know what you are thinking, only when you write it”- By my Professor.
Why?
I believe writing allows us to understand our thinking because in order to make flow out of our thinking we need clarity. This effort for clarity helps us to iterate our thinking to give it a more comprehensive and nuanced form. Further, written material is scanned by our eyes and processed by our brain to cross check whether the understanding created from writing is same as that imagined by the brain before thinking.
Decision is taken
Once the processing is done, decision is made to whether go for further iteration or not.
Characteristics
This gives the good characteristics to our thinking. It enables our thinking to work not only on primary or secondary level thinking, also on the tertiary and quaternary level thinking which can be viewed once we have complete picture in our eyes.
Competitive Advantage
The ideas in the brain will become more ordered and clear which help in linking the ideas with other ideas. It will give the advantage over competitors who do not practice writings, when it comes to placing and explaining your ideas.

To see our writing in print and match it with our earlier thought process is a revelation at times! siva
