Iconic and internationally renown real estate star Rod Taylor overseeing construction of noble project

Panda Development Company Limited, has announced the appointment of respected real estate expert Rod Taylor as the Chief Development Officer for its Ksh120 billion Aberdare Hills Golf Resort project, paving way for the start of the 1,700-acre development, set to give Kenya its first-ever five star eco-friendly golf resort.

The move is destined to superbly change the face of this East African nation and has won applause in several social and economic circles locally and internationally.

Panda Development Company Limited which is located in Naivasha town, out of Nairobi-Kenya's capital city, has built an on-site test laboratory to ensure its concrete is perfectly mixed, as part of a quality drive to ensure the durability and safety of its homes to forestall casualties- at a time when Kenya loses over sh 1.4 billion annually to collapsed buildings.

Creative genius

The company's noble move to kick up the magnificent and elaborately styled project in Kenya that combines both local and international architecture, has been applauded and enthusiastically welcomed in various quarters, as it is destined to create a lasting legacy of stupendous progress inspired by a creative genius, worth emulating throughout Africa and across the world.

Rod Taylor's wide experience

Rod Taylor, a long-serving international real estate expert, has extensive experience spanning 18 years, having worked for some of the world's leading real estate ventures including UK based Savills plc, a global real estate services provider, listed on the London Stock Exchange.

"Taylor's appointment affirms Aberdare Hills' commitment to establish an internationally recognized golf resort and will be an asset in our quest to redefine Kenya's real estate landscape", said Dr. Pritam Singh Panesar, Managing Director at Panda Development Company Limited.

Until his appointment, Rod Taylor was working for The Royal Family in the Middle East.

“He comes with a wealth of international expertise ranging from sales and marketing to more investment-orientated transactions, and the ability to put together large deals for hotels, golf designers and more,” noted Dr. Pritam, as he showered Rod Taylor with praises.

The Chief Development Officer will oversee daily progress in the project development- making sure quality is guaranteed, as well as coordinating marketing and selling activities, according to Dr. Pritam.

“A key component of Aberdare Hills Golf Resort is the quality guarantee to homes owners and investors, thus calling for close professional examination and supervision,” explained Dr. Pritam whose career in construction spans decades as a consultant, property manager and developer.

Sustainable environment

Aberdare Hills project in its entirety offers a sustainable environment by using geothermal energy, hydroelectricity, solar, households waste recycling, boreholes and dams as water sources, and is using durable building materials all subjected to on site test labs that ensures top quality is achieved.

“Kenya has got so much potential as a nation as well as destination and if I can contribute just a small amount, it would be a wonderful achievement personally", said Dr Pritam.

Noted Rod Taylor in his acceptance speech:

"Primarily, I feel the Aberdare Hills has the potential to be a market leader in Africa.”

“Projects like this do not come around very often and as such, I wanted to be associated with a world class resort,” the real estate icon pointed out.

Aberdare Hills Golf Resort is set on a high plateau with views over Lake Naivasha including the Malewa River on its north-west boundary and dry gorges and ravines.

“We have incorporated numerous natural features into the design of the golf course that have promoted its aesthetic appeal by generating unique eight signature holes as identified by the designers,” added Dr Pritam.

The Golf Resort, built in international standards, is expected to be the first PGA tour golf course in the region slated amongst the top cadre golf courses, according to Dr Pritam.

“We have contracted the world renown designer of upmarket and exclusive destinations, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG), meaning Aberdare Hills Golf Resort will rank as one of Africa's most prestigious and secluded properties,” he stressed.

WATG has worked in over 160 countries and territories across six continents designing great hotels and resorts, than any other firm on the planet.

Maldives, Shangri-La's Villingilli Resort is one of the WATG's projects that have become international landmarks, renowned not only for their design and sense of place, but also for their bottom-line success.

“With the high degree of work being put in terms of quality of design and actual construction methodology coupled with Internationally recognized golf designer, the project will not only have local and regional recognition but also international,” an assertive Rod Taylor emphasized.

"We are looking at local as well as International architectural designs to compliment the location of the resort,” he explained.

There has been a rise in golf integrated estates in Kenya, with developers realization that buyers are ready to pay a premium and appreciate the golf as a lifestyle.

Kenya stands out as one of Africa's most vibrant economies with an annual GDP growth rate of well over five per cent.

In addition to tea, coffee and horticultural exports, tourism is one of the nation's largest income generators, accounting for 12 per cent of GDP.

The country's main tourists markets are Europe, Middle East and Africa which have a combined eight million golfers of which, at least, 30 per cent take golf tours.

According to the Kenya Investments Authority, only 12 out of the over 40 golf courses in Kenya have been used to celebrate international world tournaments which make golf tourism one of the niche products for the Kenyan market.

“Kenya’s weather is ideal for golf all year round, making it one of the world’s top golfing destinations and construction of world class golf courses such as Aberdare Hills Golf Resort will broaden the country's tourism offerings beyond Safaris,” said Taylor.

With the recent peaceful transition of power in Kenya, Taylor observes, Aberdare Hills stands to benefit as marketing activities spiral astronomically.

“With peaceful transition comes huge confidence in the country and its Government. This in turn gives buyers the confidence to invest their hard earned money,” Taylor contended.

Aberdare Hills Golf Resort comprises of a par- 72 championship golf course, residential villas and town houses, a clubhouse on ninth and 18th greens and a 120-room five star hotel with conference rooms, ballroom and spa facilities to revitalize one's spirit and relax his or her senses.

Eco-friendly golf resort

The project is established as Kenya's first five star eco-friendly golf resort and is located outside Naivasha town, about 80 km north-west of Nairobi.

The town is the center of Kenya’s important horticultural and floricultural industries and overlooks Lake Naivasha, one of the largest of the Great Rift Valley lakes.
