You Were Not There

Opportunity knocks once, and even though life is not a game of chance, we must be prepared to embrace whatever it offers, or we will have our whole lives to regret our choices.

You Were Not There

The phone rings, because of some
unknown force; not because wires
and cables perpetrate
their clever maneuvers into your mind.
They are the sounds of forests,
and rivers calling from afar.
But you are not home!
Is it destiny then, the one turning
to tell you’ve missed the most
important words in your life?
Is it luck that looked at you right
into those melted eyes, groping in sadness?
What a happy encounter it
might had been! A job, a love, a figure.
How different you may have been
if only you had been there.
But you were not home!
