this page talks of the resourcefulness in the young people and also talks of how they really need to be very much empowered.

youth is a resource, we should empower the young people

Young people’s transition periods from childhood to adulthood have become significantly longer and complex. Unemployment among young people is on average at least twice as high as for the overall workforce; the current economic crisis puts further pressure on the labour market opportunities for the young. They frequently work in low-quality, temporary jobs and are poorly paid. This leaves the youth at a risk of poverty. This therefore puts the youth in a separate group that is not looked at with much concern.

Exclusion may be caused by unemployment, disability, societal and individuals’ attitudes towards migration, discrimination, physical, sexual and/or mental health, addictive behaviour, abuse, family violence and criminal record. It may also lead to radicalisation and violence. Breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty and exclusion is one of the many things that will see the youth being independent and responsible members of the society. Addressing youth at risk of poverty and social exclusion involves a wide range of policy fields and requires integrated action. In this context, child, family and youth policies are closely linked and this can be achieved through a form of Communication that will bring common understanding between the youth and the authorities on the ground.

We need serious minds who will stand on the FRONTLINE to ensure that our youth live lives that are transformational by putting all the available human and material resources together to prevent poverty and social exclusion among disadvantaged youth groups and break their intergenerational transmission by mobilising all actors involved in the life of youth (parents, teachers, social workers, health professionals, youth workers, young people themselves, police and justice, employers…).

When we come to realize that indeed many young people’s ;ives have been turned into hells of immorality, we will then see the use of ensuring that we come up with solutions that are driven towards a long term goal that is; Ensure that youth morality remains a priority. Some of the objectives that we can come up with may include but not limited to; Promote cross-border network of the young people, Early familiarisation of young people to the social world, Develop youth morality as a reosurce to support other youth in developing positive morality, Encourage cooperation between youth policy makers and the youth. involvement in the policies, Ensure that there is availability of all that is needed for promoting youth morality like employment, Develop short-term measures in the youth recovery plans and efforts to stimulate youth involvement in the entire society as well as structural measures in favour of youth, Develop career guidance and counselling services to the youth, Develop methods to improve childcare so as to help reconciliation between social and private life of young adults.

The main issue is youth need some work to get a foothold and experience. Then they will be able to venture on their own joining with others too. It will be wonderful if society can back them with experienced people ready to hold their hands with some seed capital. We should give them a real break to prove their worth and passion. Thanks Tafmona for this highlight - siva

I agree with you, if only we get the young people absorbed in some of the work places, they will get experience and they will be able to realize so many of their d reams

interesting tafmona...funnily enough i was talking with Stefan at Goethe Institute yesterday and as he says young people nowadays do not read fairy stories which are filled with wisdom so they have no reference points..or very few...
