Cricket and football are by far the most viewed and followed games in the world. Cricket has ruled the telly world for over a decade. will is continue to woo viewers or will its competitor beat it again.....

Cricket

Cricket is a game of bat and ball which has been played since 1800's by the England and Australia for long.During the earlier times, the bat was just a rugged piece of stick and was used to hit the ball. the general rule of the game was to make as much runs as possible and there were no boundaries, then. cricket was a long game and it took about 4 to 5 days to finish. The game was finished when both the sides were bowled out twice.
With the coming of the industrial age, the game became fast paced and quick. with the coming of tech, it become more vivid ,colored and viewer interactive. This game was made so interactive by a television tycoon who staged unofficial tests for about 2 years. The headquarters of the game were earlier in London. However with the shift of power and viewers in India. The Headquarters were shifted over to Dubai.

Cricket and the television

Cricket has developed very much since the 1900's. Cricket' has not only introduced better and more bigger stadiums but has relied highly on publicity and introducing new norms.Cricket has evolved much as a game. India is the biggest viewer of cricket so most of the modern techniques and methods has been invented and adopted over here. In the recent era, Many new forms of match like T20s and world cups and celebrity matches and Highly marketed IPL .
Cricket has ruled the telly world for over two decades and still counting strong.Six is a magical number in cricket. Players and fans wait for that 'hurrah' moment when the batsman hits the ball for a massive six over the boundary line. For the IPL 2013 that 'aha' moment has arrived. The sixth season of the twenty 20 tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India has started and with it the country's biggest sporting and entertainment extravaganza.
Already 100 million viewers have watched the first week of Pepsi IPL 2013 on MAX and SIX, the two channels on which official broadcaster Multi-Screen Media (MSM) is showing the tournament. This season, more than 100 brands are betting more than RS 1500 crore through direct advertising, sponsorship's, licensing and merchandising deals with individual teams, IPL management and MSM.

The football fever

During the ongoing FIFA football world cup, about 800 million viewers daily tune in to the football what today is called as the football fever. I am a die hard cricket fan but facts are facts. many sportsmen are considering that by the end of FIFA , he total tune in of viewerrs would be greater than that of the pepsi IPL 2014.
There are a few important reasons one should never overlook when considering this case

  • FIFA recognizes about 209 football associations as well as 129 women's national teams. this number is greater than the total cricketers engaged in the IPL cup.
  • Ipl is a home match played by indian teams divided just by the names of their regions. FIFA is a large association having more matches and more countries, which means more viewership
  • every game faces ups and downs, cricket's viewership has gone down due to the reported incidents of fixing and betting, which reportedly football faces less.......

  • Revive the soul, revive the game.To all the cricket fans.
