will you be winter or summer

A poem to someone I have not met . . . yet. Yeah, I know, that sounds a little strange. But to me it makes perfect sense.

will you be winter or summer

I thank God
you are the ocean
in which I finally drowned
now I am reborn
into a completely different world
one with vibrant color
intimate shape and familiar sound
finally ending the struggle
against the enduring myth of love
I just woke up from a terrible dream
or so it seems
but let us not talk about that
do you want to watch a movie
lay on the couch together
and melt into one another
what pairs well with popcorn
red or white wine
I want to become yours
do you want to be mine
you are already in my head
even though we have not met
here we go
wash cycle warm and slow
tumble dry gentle and low
I know you are out there
reading this
coming to your own conclusions
about exactly what this means
these words strung together
(like clothes drying on a line)
to form sentences
does it mean anything
to anyone
that is the question isn’t it
what season will you be
for me
spring or summer
do you hear that sound
it is the sky
feeling lonely
it reaches down
with pale blue fingers
it caresses the ground
