~ Letters from the Monastery of My Heart: XXVI: ~

~Blue/My Angel Away~

She promised she’d come back to me, a wing, a breath, a moment. All my life she’d been there, then one cold July day she was no more. I was sadder than sad at first, then angry, madder than mad, listening to frail night dogs’ pathetic attempt to howl in the city. I found her in the stone mountains, I did, a sudden down-canyon wind, blue my angel away.

Walking through the lilac park, I watched children running, disappearing into tunnels purple and fragrant, emerging laughing, youthful, stunned, alive. I remembered her playing there. Kneeling down to follow them, this girl destined to be forever young, I knew what she was, forgot her name. An angry lover, shotgun, blue my angel away.

She had L.A. in her eyes, scars from the dark forest scattered through, littering her brain-bowl, deep worms crawling under her skin, beautiful, demented, tormented, Jesus on her lips, arms flailing, exalted by Pagan worship, sunshine, naked feet and casual sex. She couldn’t remember to eat. Madness claimed her, tore her apart, blue my angel away.

This deep. If you wanna weep, go ahead and let the tears wash the pains away. If it rains, go stand in the rain and let the rains wash the tears away. This is sad. May you find a place in your heart to deal with this kind of loss. Thanks for sharing.
