~I’m not sure when the madnesses joined me~the ringing in my ears~like my five children~lovely~ cantankerous~boisterous, a symphony of sweetness~dawns & dusks~a midnight rambler~what joy they bring to me~a man born to be father~exalted further as a father of words~

~The Madnesses~

I began writing haiku in 1994, intended to do a thousand of them, have it published under the title “A Thousand Whispers.” Seventeen years later, with over 11000 in the bag, I decided to edit them once more & create a piece of art for each one. Then publish them under the title “Ten Thousand Whispers.” Several of them have published on the internet & in magazines & anthologies.

Aphorisms & epigrams have leaked from my pen from the time I was in elementary school. I didn’t know what they were but jotted the little things down whenever a Big Chief tablet (or match book) was handy. There are several thousand of them I need to decide what to do with.

A year or so ago I began to mess with the Twitter thing with the intention of promoting my novels & music. That led to what I decided to call “snippets”, 140 character pieces including the address to my website. I fell in love with my little snippets & decided the billions of words I’d written the past fifty years or so may have been overdoing it. Ya think?!?

So, having finished what I thought of as my opus in 1994, Madman Chronicles: The Warrior, I embarked upon a lifelong journey, developing an appreciation for shorter pieces, snippets. When the time comes, I’ll build myself a pyre of it all, climb on, have my children light a match & take my celestial place in the universal consciousness.

Until then, here are a handful of my short snippets & mini-poems. You may call them something else if you’d like. They are ever-changing & have taught me to be so. Now I have to write a Tweet to cover this bit of rambling.

Your diligent obsession with the written word has not been for nought. "When the time comes, I’ll build myself a pyre of it all, climb on, have my children light a match & take my celestial place in the universal consciousness." You speak poignantly of matters close to the heart of us Wikinuts. Thanks for the dedication, my friend:)
